The Championships was covered by 46 different broadcasters Merchandise The top five best selling items in the Wimbledon Shop were: 15000 Mini tennis ball key-rings, 11000 Men’s Championship Towels, 10,000 umbrellas, 8500 Ladies’ Championship Towels, 8000 Twin Wrist Bands. Players and matches 507 player s representing 67 nations played 654 matches. Racket StringingThe Championships stringing team worked round the clock to string over 2,000 rackets comprising 60% for men, 40% for women. In total this adds up to over 40 miles of string. Roughly 65 % hybrid (gut and synthetic), 20% gut and 10% synthetic gut. The record time for stringing a racket at The Championships, without comprising quality, is 14 minutes. Radio Wimbledon For the first time Radio Wimbledon had two all female teams providing the commentary for both internet and radio listeners during the Ladies Singles’ Final. Tennis Balls Over 52,000 Slazenger balls used during the Fortnight. Ticket Resales Around 20,000 seat tickets, handed in by spectators leaving the grounds, have been resold to generate an estimated record total of over £95,000, which will be donated to The Championships’ nominated charities. Day 5 (Friday 29 June) posted the single largest re-sale of tickets with over £11,000.
