Federer, Mauresmo and Agassi Boost to Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum

August 15 2006

Roger Federer, Amélie Mauresmo and Andre Agassi have given visitors to Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum even more to see following this year’s Championships.

Men’s Singles Champion Roger Federer has donated the elegant cream jacket that he wore to walk on and off court during The Championships, as well as the outfit worn when winning his fourth consecutive Wimbledon title.

The jacket features the crest on the breast pocket made up of his Leo star sign, an F, the Swiss cross, tufts of grass and three rackets representing his three Championship titles 2003, 2004 and 2005.

Amélie Mauresmo, Ladies’ Singles Champion, has presented the outfit that she wore to win her first senior Wimbledon title, while the outfit worn by Andre Agassi in his emotional farewell appearance on Centre Court is sure to be a popular attraction.

During The Championships, the Museum acquired Fred Perry’s Renshaw Cup. The silver Cup was won in 1936 by Britain’s last winner of the Men’s Singles when defeating Gottfried von Cramm (GER) to win his third consecutive Wimbledon title.

The Museum will also exhibit the new Polo Ralph Lauren outfits worn by the Chair and Line Umpires and those worn by Wimbledon’s famous Ball Boys and Girls.

The new acquisitions are already on display and have added to the Museum’s already unparalleled collection of tennis memorabilia. For up-to-date information, please visit www.wimbledon.org/museum or call 00 44 (0)208 946 6131.

Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum is located at the All England Club, home of the Wimbledon Championships.

The new Museum combines state-of-the-art interactive touch screens with its unparalleled collection of traditional and contemporary tennis memorabilia in order to explore the story of the game and the Wimbledon Championships, from past to present, in a vibrant and entertaining way.
